Welcome to
GAURAAJ‐THE VILLAGE LIVING

Nestled in the picturesque hills of Chauki, Chamoli, Gauraaj invites you to experience a truly unique getaway that seamlessly blends sustainable living with the vibrant cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. Set amidst lush greenery and the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas, our homestay offers a tranquil retreat far removed from the noise and chaos of city life.
Gauraaj is thoughtfully designed by the esteemed architect Dr. Dewesh Nainwal, who has meticulously incorporated traditional Pahadi construction techniques. The homestay is crafted with eco-friendly materials like natural stone, mud, straw, pine needles, and cow dung, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and harmony with nature. These traditional methods not only preserve the authenticity of the region but also ensure a comfortable and refreshing stay for our guests.
Whether you are seeking peace and solitude, a chance to immerse yourself in the simplicity and beauty of rural village life, or an opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops and cultural activities, Gauraaj offers something for everyone. Here, every day is an opportunity to connect with the local way of life, be it through savoring traditional Uttarakhand cuisine, learning local crafts, or exploring the surrounding scenic trails.
